I was sevan at the time and my sister was eight and my
brother was six at the time we lived in a small town in Epping Essex in the UK.
Where we lived it was near country side and lots Of open ground so we had the run of
the town and as children was curious too now on the way to school each day we would pass the old disused church it was boarded
up from the front and could not get in but at the back the boards were ripped off and the windows smashed and it use to interest
us due to it being a place you should not be but children would be children.
It was a Saturday morning and we was up early we had some breakfast and then decided to go out
to play and so we went out together and played around for a few hours we were near the old church and so we decided to go
there now at the time this old church was on top of a hill now on top of the hill it was a lorry and car park the ground was
dusty due to it being summer and in the winter it would be a mud hole and you could not Evan park your car there.
We see the the church in the distance as we walked up to it we had to avoid the cars and trucks
parked on the hill now due to the lorry car park being on a hill the church foundations were much more lower than the level
of the lorry car park in between both levels there was a ditch and weeds and nettle's between both and so while going down
a level you had to avoid the weeds and nettle's before you go to the windows of the rear of the church first my sister
got there and climbed over the window and then my brother climbed over i came to the window but didn't want to go in I looked
from the outside into the church and could see the pews on each side and the isle where they used to walk up to take
a seat now at the end there was the alter and a few steps where the alter is there was a large brass cross now to the
back of the room near where i was there on the left was a large oak wooden door with a metal door handle i asked my
sister if she could open it and so she walked to the right of me at the back of this old church she tried to open it by kicking
it and trying to turn the door handle but it would not budge at all and so she gave up and my sister and brother started to
walk by me and go back down the main isle towards the steps and alter where this brass cross was i fixed my gases apron my
sister and brother as they walked down the main isle then i heard a strange sound firstly it sounded rustic as something
hadn't been moved in a long time i was trying to fix on sound then i heard vibrations to my right and fixed on the solid oak
door i could see the knocker was moving and then all of a sudden the door swung open and i could see a shadow of something
it came from the door and went passed me now remember my brother and sister was walking down the isle while this was happening
i stood there in shock i could not move nor speak I was terrified this shape was of an monk I could not see he's feet nor
he's face just the outline of he's body he floated past me and proceeded to go towards my brother and sister I could not move
now speak he past them they didn't notice him as I did nor heard the sound of the door opening.
He went up the alter and picked up the brass cross and then started to take it towards my sister
and bother now when they noticed the cross floating they ran u the isle and jumped passed me now i am still froze while they
left me i could see the cross coming towards me and that was it I ran for it we finally caught each other up and excitedly
told our stories of this spirit monk and we swore that we old never go back and for a few weeks this was true.
Finally we found the courage to go back to this old church now this time we all went in together
and we saw the cross back where it was on the alter and we also tried the door where it had opened but we all tried and could
not open it to save our lives we then decided to go down the isle towards the alter now we got as far as where my sister and
brother saw the cross floating towards them we walk a few more steps and felt the floor feel weaker now remember the
church is boarded up and so its very dark inside the church we carried on a few more steps and then studdenly stopped
the floor was not there at all there was a gaping hole in between the lis now it finally rang on me that if this spirit hadn't
came from the cellar door at the back of the church then my sister and brother would have been dead or had a serious
injury and so I believe that this monk saved my brothers and sisters lives that day and I Will always thank
him for he's life and for saving my brothers and sister life too.
